MetroGuide's EventGuide™
Service Celebrates Tenth Anniversary

Hollywood, Florida – Veteran South Florida PR and advertising people remember EventGuide™, the groundbreaking broadcast-fax and fax-on-demand service that is now part of the MetroGuide.com, Inc. (MetroGuide) network, as one of the best ways to get free publicity for special events, charity affairs, concerts, festivals, openings, fairs – any event worthy of note. Established in December of 1993, EventGuide faxes quickly became a fixture in offices and homes throughout South Florida, arriving weekly, bringing much-anticipated news of fun things to do and places to go in South Florida.

This December, 2003, EventGuide celebrates ten years of continuous service to the community.

"EventGuide was a free service from inception, and it's still free for event listers and seekers ten years later," said Mark Metz, MetroGuide founder and CEO.

EventGuide broke new ground when it moved to the Internet in the mid-1990s, located at http://eventguide.com. In 2002, a new proprietary search engine was deployed, enabling visitors to search the site for events by day, type of event, venue, event name – any criteria – to find just the activity to suit their wishes.

"We set out to create the most inclusive, user-friendly event listing resource in South Florida, and with the advent of the Internet, that mission grew to include cities around the world," Metz said.

"The EventGuide service now presents listings on five continents and most major urban areas," said Metz. From sumo wrestling in Tokyo to Cinco de Mayo in Cozumel, from fashion shows in Paris to theater in London, EventGuide has it covered. Naturally, South Florida, our flagship, presents the most extensive listing of them all."

The addition of GUIs (graphical user interfaces) in early 2003 made it easier than ever for event presenters to add their events to the EventGuide site, and to its sister site, DiningGuide.net. The link at the bottom of the EventGuide home page takes visitors directly to the easily-completed listing form. Likewise for DiningGuide.net.

What do Metz and his MetroGuide team have in store for the next ten years of EventGuide? "We plan to put a huge emphasis on EventGuide for the near future," Metz said. "EventGuide has expanded steadily over the past decade, and at this stage we believe it to be our brightest prospect for growth in the coming years. Now, how we'll develop that potential – you'll have to keep watching."

MetroGuide, located at http://metroguide.com, is among the largest Internet providers of global travel information and reservations.
